Welcome to A Community Of Character
newlogo.jpg

YOU'VE COME HOME to Chapin, South Carolina, USA -- a Community with Character. We are located in the Midlands, halfway between the mountains and the sea, in the heart of the Dutch Fork and at the northern shores of beautiful Lake Murray.

Come on in and take a look around. You'll find a lot of information here about our town, our community and our people. Be sure to click on the items in our Newsroom section for the latest happenings around town. All of our pictures can be viewed in a larger size if you click on them.

2008 BUSINESS LICENSES: The Town of Chapin Business Licenses for 2008 were due and payable by April 15. Payment received after this date are subject to a 5% penalty for each month and portion thereof. All persons doing business in the Town of Chapin are required to have a current Business License.  Failure to receive annual renewal notice does not relieve the licensee from the responsbility of obtaining a license. Please contact Town Clerk Adrienne Thompson for a Business License Application and Fees.  345-2444 Ext. 101, or chapintownclerk@sc.rr.com.  A copy of the application form may be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.

CENTRAL MIDLANDS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (CMCOG) has created a brief online questionnaire that looks at transportation patterns and traveling issues across the Greater Columbia Region (which includes Richland and Lexington Counties). The COG plans to follow this with public workshops in late March and early April, to allow for more direct interaction on these issues. The online survey is short and only takes a few minutes to answer. The link is LRTP 2035 Online Survey.  Simply double-click the link and you’ll be taken directly to the questionnaire.

WATER CONSERVATION REQUEST: Governor Mark Sanford is encouraging all South Carolinians to voluntarily conserve water. Most of the state's unregulated streams are at or near record low flows for this time of year.  Most lakes are at much below normal levels, and the long-range outlook for the remainder of fall and winter calls for below normal participation.  We encourage all customers of the Town of Chapin Water System to voluntarily conserve water. Doing so, hopefully, will help avoid more stringent restrictions later if the drought continues.  Please see our Newsroom section for more information.

NATIONAL DRINKING WATER WEEK MAY 5-9:  Chapin joins with utilities across the Nation in recognizing our most precious natural resource
24hrs.jpg
-- Water. The water that flows from your tap 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year is the safest in the country. You can virtually drink from any tap in America with assurance of safe water. Your water utility tests for more than 100 contaminants and must meet strict state and federal regulations. Operators who treat the water in South Carolina are certified and are required to have continuing education classes yearly to keep their certification current. These employees are on call round the clock to make sure service interruptions are as infrequent as possible and of short duration. The first 200 customers who come to Town Hall during May 5-9 will receive a free 22-ounce drinking cup. Children will receive coloring pages and crayons.

PAYMENTS ONLINE OR BY PHONE: Now you can pay your Town of Chapin utility bills on-line or by telephone using your Visa or MasterCard. You may also use your debit card. Look for the PAY BILL link near the top of our menu list.  The toll free telephone number for those wishing to pay by phone is (866) 656-2569.  Scroll to the bottom of this page, click on the payment form and print it out, attach a voided  check and return to P.O.
